Endocrinology

Your lifestyle, your well-being
Your diet and lifestyle guide you toward health or disease. Changes are always challenging, but not impossible. To support you, we provide primary care physicians and specialists focused on prevention, including endocrinology, the medical specialty dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of endocrine system disorders, as well as diseases related to the glands and organs that produce hormones: diabetes, thyroid problems, and hormonal imbalances.
Endocrinologists also manage metabolic conditions and help prevent diseases related to hormonal imbalances.
Conditions treated by endocrinologists include:
- Diabetes
- Osteoporosis
- Menopause
- Metabolic disorders
- Thyroid diseases
- Overproduction or underproduction of hormones
- Certain types of cancer
At La Colonia medical centers, specialists may order laboratory tests such as blood analyses:
- Hormone levels: Measures various hormones, including thyroid hormones (TSH, T4, T3), reproductive hormones (estrogen, testosterone), adrenal hormones (cortisol), pituitary hormones (growth hormone), and others.
- Prueba de TSH: Evalúa la función tiroidea y puede indicar si hay hipertiroidismo (demasiada hormona tiroidea) o hipotiroidismo (muy poca hormona tiroidea).
- TSH test: Evaluates thyroid function and can indicate hyperthyroidism (too much thyroid hormone) or hypothyroidism (too little thyroid hormone).
- Other tests: May include thyroid antibody tests, blood glucose tests (HbA1c), and adrenal function tests.
- Imaging studies are performed at our diagnostic centers, which are equipped with the latest advanced technology.
After diagnosis, the endocrinologist will recommend a treatment plan in direct coordination with your primary care physician, depending on the underlying condition causing the symptoms.
