A great family
Founded on the principles of trust, respect, and loyalty by the Acevedo family. The entire family works within the institution, fostering a sense of fidelity, commitment, and gratitude.

La Colonia española
The name “La Colonia” originates from one of the most prestigious hospitals in Sagua La Grande, built in the late 19th century. According to historical records, by the mid-20th century, it was associated with the working class and, for a modest monthly fee, included comprehensive medical care: surgeries, consultations, laboratory tests, X-rays, medications, and hospitalizations. It also featured the most advanced technology of its time in the radiology department.
Jorge Acevedo, a physician by profession and proud of his roots, always dreamed of founding his own clinic and naming it after the iconic healthcare center of his hometown.
Jorge Acevedo
He is the president and founder of the company. Born in Las Villas, Cuba, in a town called Sagua La Grande, he arrived in Miami at the age of 27 after graduating as a doctor in medicine. He began working at a healthcare center that served elderly patients. From that moment on, he dedicated himself to redefining geriatric medicine in South Florida, firmly believing that the key lay in innovating and offering services that had not yet been implemented.
He treasures qualities such as simplicity, loyalty, family values, and love for his roots. To this day, he continues to show the same affection, dedication, and personal attention to patients and employees, all members of this great family who have always been his purpose and inspiration.

La Casita
It all began in a small "little house," as it was affectionately called, which was located where the large La Colonia center stands today, in Hialeah.
With the goal of offering patients a comprehensive healthcare system, the medical services were temporarily moved to a clinic in the eastern part of Hialeah, in order to transform our "little house" into a wellness center. In 2011, it was demolished to build the first building on that site, which gave the institution its identity.
